Scholarships and Grants in Arizona

by Jill
(Arizona)

I received a scholarship called the Daniel Mickelson Memorial Scholarship a couple of years ago. This scholarship is for freshman who graduated from an Arizona high school. You need a 3.0 grade point and they like you to have migrated to the U.S., or have parents that did.

All-Arizona Academic Team
by: Jim

In Arizona the All-Arizona Academic Team chooses two outstanding students from each of the states community colleges. Representing Rio Salado College this year are Katherine Robinson and Amber Jenson.

Robinson received a cash prize of $1,000 dollars and a two year scholarship to any of the states three universities. She has a 3.93 grade point average and participates in college and community activities. She is also a candidate for the All-USA where she could win an additional $2,500 and be featured in USA Today.

Jenson has a 3.8 grade point average and is also active in school and community activities.

At Rio Salado, for these girls to qualify, they had to have a high grade point average and many credits in different disciplines. They also needed to be working towards an associate degree and active in service activities.

Every year a hundred or more high school students compete in a competition hosted by Careers in Culinary Arts Program. This non-profit organization is nation wide so these might be held in other cities.

There were three $50,000 winners who will soon be attending the Art Institute of Phoenix. Many smaller awards were also given.

Arizona Scholarships
by: Jim

Mesa Public Schools in Arizona is one of the nations leaders in graduation rates exceeding the expected rates by ten percent. And check out theses scholarship offers given by schools. Come on folks, there's money out there for deserving high school seniors. Westwood graduates received offers totaling over $13 million. Mountain view received over $14 million. Mesa High came in with just under $5 million and Dobson was offered over $4 million in scholarships. Red Mountain High School students were offered over $11 million.

All totaled Mesa Public Schools seniors were offered $53.7 million in scholarships and awards. One student from Mountain View High School was offered 30 scholarships totaling nearly $1.3 million. That's a lot of money. Out of those 30 offers I'm sure she had plenty of free rides to choose from. Probably from some pretty nice universities also.
