Obesity in kids truly is a big deal and it’s time we all start doing something about it. In Arizona one third of our kids are obese and we are 27th in a national ranking of states. That means about half the states in America have more than one third of their kids who are considered obese. This needs to change.
Michelle Obama knows how important this is and has made it one of her main goals to change it. She is behind the Let’s Move movement aimed to get our kids in motion.
In Arizona we have an annual Walk On Challenge. This year it involved more than 280 schools and 30,000 fifth graders. That’s great, now how about the rest of the year?
The Walk On goal is to get kids to walk 60 minutes every day. 60 minutes is a perfect minimum goal for a child to be active. So whether it happens at school or at home, make it happen.
