Learning to Read

Teaching Them Is Fun, For Both Of You

Some of the most magical moments of parenting are when your child is learning to read.  Hopefully you have been reading books to your child since the day you brought them home from the hospital.  Now they are ready to read with you.

The bedtime book reading never stopped at this point, it just changed a little.  I would read a page and then my "new reader" would read a page.  Most of the time bedtime went to two books instead of one.  We would start with an easy one we could share and the second book was mine.

When books have been an important part of your everyday life, teaching a child to read is a very easy transition to make.  There are a lot of books and software designed to help children learning to read.  Hopefully you will find some useful information here and have your child reading long before that first day of kindergarten.
