Kids Need More Excercise.

I'm one for seeing to it that kids get more time out doors to run, play and do fun activities. I'm not real keen on more government intervention but then again, on a state level, why not. If that's what it takes to get these kids onto a playground running and jumping for more than twenty minutes a day, I'm all for it.

When I was a kid we had a long enough lunch break I was able to run, or walk, the five blocks home for lunch, and then back. We also had a nice ling recess every afternoon. Twice a week we had an hour of PE, either in the gym or on the playground.

After school meant another walk home, toss the books on the floor and it was off to play. There was always a basketball, football or baseball game to get into. If not then a long bike ride was usually the activity of choice.

Many things have changed since then but parents and schools need to find a way to keep our kids fit. We really do.
