Green Schools In Oklahoma

book and globe Have you noticed more and more green schools in Oklahoma?  Are you working with a green school in Oklahoma?  We would love to hear you green school stories, whether you are a teacher, student or parent.  Maybe we can encourage others to get on board and start to make changes in their school.

The Oklahoma Green Schools Program is a site offering tips and programs to help all Oklahoma schools go green.  They cover the important topics like energy, water, waste, recycling, environmental quality and the school site.  The idea is that any school can go green and they are very correct.

It is well known by now that green schools create an excellent tool for teaching sustainable living to our children.  They also provide a healthier environment leading to higher test scores.  The energy savings is a positive factor for the cities and school districts.

Some schools you may recognize are already a part of this Green Schools Program.  Included in these are Tulsa Memorial High School, Norman High School, Keystone Adventure School, Inola Middle School, Edmond Memorial High School and Beggs Middle School.

The Green Schools site says you do not have to join the program to use the resources provided.  It is very possible to turn an existing school green, you just get started.  Does your school have a green club?  That's a pretty good start.  It's amazing what these clubs have done to green schools across the country.

Get the school board, the teachers, the students and the parents involved and start making some changes.  What are you doing to green a school in Oklahoma?
