Green Schools In Arizona
Are your kids going to a green school in Arizona? If they attend classes in the Tuscon Unified School District, the Aqua Fria Union High School District, the Hopi Tribe Office of Education or the Bullhead City Elementary School District they just might be. These are the districts in Arizona with LEED certified green schools.
There are some community colleges going green, The Chino Valley Agribusiness and Science Technology Center, the Pima Community College and the Yavapai College are part of this group.
The Organic Consumers Association picked the top ten green schools in the nation and Desert Edge High School in Goodyear was in the number three spot. This was a few years ago, but still, that's pretty neat.
Green schools create a healthier environment for our children to learn. They also teach sustainability and energy conservation to the students and their parents. It doesn't take long at all for these schools to pay for themselves and start seeing hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in energy savings that can be put to better use.
