I recently had the pleasure of doing business with a fellow ebay user. His ebay name is fatherofthecentury. I just had to know how he came upon his name and this was his reply, along with a great photo of his three sons.
"I got the name Father of the Century from a
close friend of mine. I'm a carpenter and a musician, so I enjoy my free
time. But when my three little boys are concerned (Fabrizio, Maurizio
and Orlando), I drop everything to be with them. This means missing a
movie, leaving a project undone or even losing sleep. I inherited my
fathers patience, so I enjoy being with my sons in every aspect of fatherhood.
I see my childhood through their eyes and it's something I will never be able
to experience again. These years will pass quickly and I don't want to
miss any moment. My friend sees this in me every time he visits. That's why he
calls me father of the century. I'm not the only one who loves his
children but I'm one of many fathers who are blessed."
Thanks so much for the words of advice. You sound just like my dad and I. My dad played ball with me just about everyday I was a kid and he now spends his days playing with up to four of his great grandkids, depending on who got dropped at Nanna and Pappas that day.
As for time passing fast, believe me, cherish every moment. My daughters grew up way to fast and two of them have gone to the east coast to college. That's a long way from Arizona. I am lucky though. I too dropped everything to be with them and the memories will be with me forever.
Are you a great father or do you know one? Tell us what you think makes an outstanding father, you know, a father of the century.
